An applicant who does not meet admission requirements may be advised to follow a recommended plan of college course work. After completion of the recommended course of study, the applicant will be reconsidered for admission to Huron School of Nursing.

Upon acceptance into Huron School of Nursing, students take the Test of Academic Skills (TEAS). This test is required of all enrolled students.

How to Apply
The application process involves completion of the following steps:
1. Return completed application with $30 non-refundable processing fee. The application fee is waived for Cleveland Clinic employees and current Notre Dame College students. The admission process will begin upon the school’s receipt of the application and processing fee. Click here for the application.
2. Request that official transcripts from high school or state GED office and all post-secondary schools attended be sent to the Office of Admissions, Huron School of Nursing. Applicants who hold an Associate, Baccalaureate or higher-level degree are NOT required to submit an official high school/GED transcript.
3. Request American College Test (ACT) results, if taken within the last 5 years, be sent to the school. These scores are not required for admission but may be helpful in assisting the applicant with academic advising and course selection.
4. Attend an admission information session. Applicants will be contacted to schedule an admission information session upon receipt of the completed application, processing fee and all applicable transcripts. Applicants will be asked to complete a written exercise to evaluate communication skills.

Applicants accepted by Huron School of Nursing will be asked to submit a $200 money order or certified check as a non-refundable tuition deposit to reserve a seat in the class. This deposit is credited toward the first semester’s tuition. The student pursuing the Associate degree at Cuyahoga Community College (CCC) or Notre Dame College (NDC) must apply for admission and be accepted to CCC/NDC. The student is responsible for registering for all required coursework at CCC/NDC throughout the program.

The sequence of nursing programs begin annually in January and August. Applicants are urged to begin the admission procedure as early as possible for priority consideration.

Huron School of Nursing reserves the right to refuse acceptance to prospective or former students who have criminal records including convictions of a felony, offenses involving moral turpitude, or other offenses of serious nature.

Huron School of Nursing will not accept anyone who has been suspended, sanctioned, excluded, or precluded from participating in Medicare, Medicaid, or other private or governmental health insurance programs.

Transfer Students
An individual may request transfer into Huron School of Nursing from another program if school admission requirements are completed. Nursing courses from accredited colleges, universities or schools of nursing may transfer providing they are of comparable content and completed with a minimum grade of C. Applicants may be requested to provide the school with course syllabi and outlines for previously completed nursing courses.

The transferring student may also be asked to submit documentation from faculty and administration of the former school that addresses the applicant’s academic and clinical abilities. Science courses completed more than 10 years, and nursing courses completed more than 5 years before admission, may not transfer and may need to be repeated. Students may be required to take proficiency tests in identified subject areas to assist in evaluating knowledge from previous courses.

Transfer students are required to complete 18 semester hours of nursing courses at Huron School of Nursing to be eligible for graduation.

International Students
Huron School of Nursing will admit international students who meet the special admission requirements established for obtaining M-1 visa status or F-1 status via NDC.

Advanced Placement for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)
Licensed Practical Nurses can achieve advanced placement without excessive repetitive coursework and testing through the Ohio Nursing Articulation Model (ONAM). Once the LPN candidate has met admission criteria, eligibility to enroll in the ONAM LPN to RN Transition Course will be granted. The transition course, offered at Cuyahoga Community College, Lakeland Community College, Lorain County Community College and other schools, validates prior learning and prepares the student for placement into the RN program.
Students receiving a "C" or better in the transition course and who successfully complete N2015 Medical-Surgical Nursing for LPNs (may be completed at Huron School of Nursing concurrently with the ONAM course) will receive credit for Nursing 1000, Nursing 1010, Nursing 1020, Nursing 2010 and Nursing 3010 at Huron School of Nursing.
