Nursing Assistant Training Program



The Nursing Assistant Training Program provides 96 hours of training which includes 35 hours of clinical experience. Participants of the training program will be able to function competently in a variety of settings including the hospital, acute rehabilitation or sub-acute care settings. The knowledge and skills acquired in the training program will facilitate a smooth transition into an entry level nursing assistant position. Upon successful completion of the 3 ½ week program, participants will be eligible to take the competency examination to become a State Tested Nursing Assistant.

 

Classroom and Skills Laboratory practice will be held at Huron Hospital Monday through Friday 8:30 am-4:30 pm. 35 Clinical hours will be performed at either Euclid Hospital Sub-Acute Unit or South Pointe Hospital Sub-

Acute Unit Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:00pm.

 

 

Upon completion of the Nursing Assistant Training Program, participants hired at Huron, Hillcrest, Euclid, or

South Pointe Hospitals will take a 40 hour (one week) Acute Care Module. This module provides specific care guidelines for the hospitalized patient through 24 hours of classroom review and skills practice and 16 hours of clinical experience. Classroom hours take place at Huron Hospital, clinical experience will occur at Huron, Euclid, Hillcrest, or South Pointe Hospitals.

Eligibility Requirements:
High school diploma or GED Equivalent. Candidates must complete a physical examination, TB test and drug screen.

Program Cost:
$700.00 for non-employees of Cleveland Clinic-East (CC-East) facilities. Program cost is waived for current CC-East employees.

 

 

Employees of Huron, Hillcrest, Euclid or South Pointe Hospitals are eligible to apply if employed in their current position for at least one year. The employee candidate must apply for and be hired into a full-time or part-time nursing assistant position prior to the start of the course. Employment can be at Huron, Hillcrest, Euclid, or South Pointe Hospital.
